Post-Summer Curl Care Tips & Products
by Debbi Burns

Here we find ourselves in the hazy, lazy dog days of summer. Bring it on!
While we’re all enjoying the last few drops of summer, remember that chlorine from swimming pools and salt water from our beloved Maine beaches can wreak some serious havoc on your delicate curls. From team CB to you, here are a few tips to recover from summer fun, and help your curls stay happy, healthy, and ready for any season!

Here are a few tips to recover from summer fun.
1. Mask Up! – Nope, not that type of mask 😷 (this time). If you’re a swimmer, you already know your curls need some serious love post-pool. Innersense’s Detox Hair Mask is for you, curly! Made with charcoal, kaolin clay, and organic white ginger, it works by gently pulling impurities to the surface without stripping your curls of their natural oils. This is especially important because our curls are prone to absorbing toxins and chemicals that can cause discoloration, and make curls feel brittle and extremely dry.

2. Oil Up! – When applying sunscreen, don’t forget your curls. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can damage the outside layers of your hair, resulting in breaks, split-ends, and frizziness – oh my! Don’t fret: Innersense’s Harmonic Healing Oil is made with tamanu oil, which acts as a natural sunscreen and moisturizer. Also, as an added bonus, because oil repels water, applying a light coating pre-swim can help keep chlorine and salt from absorbing into your hair. But remember! All oils are not created equally. Food grade oils have a molecular weight that can pull your curls down, as do adulterated oils that are processed with fillers. For this reason, we recommend a pure, raw, unadulterated oil like Innersense’s.

3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! – A long day in the sun means you need plenty of water for both your body and your hair. Grab the H2O for your bod, and then grab Innersense’s Hydrating Hair Mask fo your curls! Apply it in the morning and braid or slick back your curls. During the day, as your head heats up, your hair is absorbing shea butter, flaxseed, and hydrogenated quinoa proteins. Way to multi-task! Rinse at the end of the day (or the next morning) to bring to life some seriously juicy curls.

We hope these tips help you and your curls live your best life as we welcome the change of seasons. Until then, long live summer!
